JAN FERGUSON

Our house was always filled with music. My mother and her sister were enrolled in music classes at an early age. My grandfather was an inventor, wood worker and musician. Our house was filled with a variety of musical instruments ,books creative toys that encouraged an active imagination.

My parents encouraged me to follow my dreams and believe in myself. That has not always led me in a strait course. My involvement in the arts began on the Washougal Parks Board in 2011 when we decided to commission the Women Who Weld to create four metal pieces depicting their impressions of the Washougal water front. That lead to beginning of the Washougal Arts and Culture Alliance art walk map and a yearly arts festival.

In 2013 I was appointed to the Clark County Arts Commission and helped establish the Anstine Gallery on the sixth floor of the Clark County Public Service Center. This journey has introduced me to so many wonderful creative people and reinforced the belief in the power of the arts.
